Poor Billy

(Note: Story of Billy has no ties to Billy from Billy and Mandy)

As a child, Billy was a prodigy, a genius, somebody adults would proudly regard as their son. However, as he began to gain years to his life he also increasingly lost focus and meaning as well. He wasn’t as motivated or energized as he once was before. In school, his grades were sinking, at home his family was breaking, and socially he was losing friends. It was until he reached his final breaking point that somebody finally laid out his sorry life on a silver platter. That’s when he recognized that the winds of change were brewing, Billy was determined to grasp it. Poor Billy needed to change.

In a time where change is regarded as a good or bad thing, one thing still stands… Change will always be necessary when a situation negatively affects your life.

Take the example of our poor fellow Billy, at an early life he seemed to have everything planned out for his successful future. In school, he was learning at a higher level compared to the others, at home his family was strong, and socially he was the popular kid everyone liked.  So what happened? Things don’t go downhill by themselves, there must have been an event that sparked this downhill spiral. Whether it be a traumatic experience, or an experience that affected you in a memorable way, something has to spark a change for the worse or for the better. For poor Billy, it was for the worse.

Along with his negative spark (whatever it was), Billy entered the next stage of negative change. Billy, now afflicted by his spark began a journey falling into despair. He stopped sleeping, started losing friends, binge eating, procrastinating and on top of that he was a hopeless introvert. It should be known that once a certain event influences you a certain way you shouldn’t carry it on to the future. Even if the event was good, e.g., Got a girlfriend. Congratulations. However, you shouldn’t be prideful about it for such a long time, you now have a job to fulfill–to keep her. On the other side of the spectrum, having something bad happen to you is also something you shouldn’t be bitter about it for so long, your job is to get out of that runt. So was the life of poor Billy.

Ironically, In the same way that started Billy’s downfall Billy needed another spark, something to make him realize how depressing his life really was. Billy needed somebody, somebody to motivate him to move on. Nobody stepped up. It was at that point when Billy realized he was all alone, he had to be that “somebody” that would push himself. There’s only so much one person can do to motivate themselves, but Billy didn’t want to go down without a fight. Slowly and slowly, Billy began restructuring his life the way it should be. Billy was lucky to receive an epiphany before it was too late, but the damage has been done, he’ll never be the same. In a hopeful sense, poor Billy wasn’t so poor anymore.
